Achieve More Efficient
and Accurate Plan Summation
with MIM’s Universal Dose Accumulation Workflow
Are you familiar with the Universal Dose Accumulation workflow in MIM Maestro® available to you as a current MIM® customer for no additional cost?
You probably already use MIM Workflows™ to automate other processes such as image registration. The same interface can guide you quickly through one of the most complex procedures in Radiation Oncology - summing multiple plans from multiple time points, regardless of the treatment planning system used to generate them.
Treatment planning systems prioritize planning, but they struggle to provide a simple way for the dosimetrist to sum multiple plans from multiple time points. The more plans, the more difficult the task. Making that problem even worse, a plan generated in a treatment planning system may be incompatible with the system used for summation. With your existing MIM Maestro license, you have a powerful, easy-to-use workflow readily available that guides you step-by-step through the process. The workflow can be imported and available as an option visible in the patient list once the planning CTs and the plans are selected.
With MIM’s Universal Dose Accumulation workflow, you have the ability to rigidly or deformably register any number of prior CTs to your current planning CT and transfer their plans through the chosen registration. Deformable registrations can be used for some plan transfers, while rigid registrations are applied to others. It’s completely up to the user to choose what is needed for that patient and that timepoint.
It’s important that any prior doses accurately correspond to the patient’s current anatomy. That’s why during the workflow, users will be prompted to review and edit the chosen registrations before the plans are passed through them. Reg Reveal® and Reg Refine® are deformable assessment tools that provide unprecedented inspection and control of deformation as it occurs. The workflow provides further specificity with biological effective dose, including EQD2, and control of alpha/beta ratios for specific structures. These parameters can be customized to your preference for evaluation your way.
Once completed, MIM’s dose accumulation workflow gives physicians a spatially accurate depiction of the total lifetime dose for more informed assessment. Clinicians are often surprised at how easy the plan summation process can be with this workflow in MIM Maestro.
The Universal Dose Accumulation workflow is available for all users in version 7.1 and later to import from the Import Manager under the Settings (gear) button in the upper-right corner of MIM. You can browse additional new content and import any of the other default workflows MIM provides. If you have any questions as you install the workflow, please contact your MIM Site Development Manager and they can help you get started.
